DOWNSIZING MADE SIMPLE
Is your home just too big? Is the yardwork just getting to be too much? Have the kids gone off to university and you're ready to go on an adventure?
Downsizing has great benefits! You get to declutter, start a new chapter, cash in on your biggest investment and use those funds to travel, re-invest, etc.
Here are the steps to simplify your move so that you can free up some hard earned money and enjoy the golden years.
Decide Where You Want To Go
What are your future needs and wants in a home? What is important to you about where you move to (i.e. community, access to shopping etc.)? What is it about your home now that you find unnecessary?
Once you know some of these answers you will be able to make a plan, decide on a timeline, and move toward your goal.
Start Early
When it comes to downsize and decluttering, give yourself plenty of time for the process. Don't try to sort out your entire house in one weekend. Take it one room and a time and take breaks. If you aren't rushed you will find the process much less stressful.
Start Small
You already have an idea of what you want to get rid of in the kitchen, or the garage but try not to start with such large areas at the beginning. Starting with closets or the laundry room are good options.
Understand what you are going to need in the move. If you plan on only having two bedrooms, then keep enough for those rooms and the rest can go.
